Thoughts on a Friday night

*Came across this video on YouTube today that really struck me in its creativity and meaning. A great video to show to all those pro-choice relatives over the Christmas season. It's an ad that was supposed to run during the last Super Bowl but NBC wouldn't allow it. Take a look...

*Barack Obama, despite being President for nearly a year already, continues to blame his predecessor for everything under the sun. One big issue is that the Bush administration took its eye off the ball in regards to fighting in Afghanistan--insisting instead on fighting the war in Iraq. Former National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley rebukes the President in the Washington Post today. Hadley points out that Bush approved a "quiet surge" in 2007 that resulted in a significant increased presence of US troops in Afghanistan. The article can be found here. Also one point that doesn't seem to come up in this talk about Bush "taking his eye off the ball" is that in a sense Al Qaeda took its eye of Afghanistan as well. Bin laden referred to Iraq as the "central front" in battling the West. In the end, despite faulty intelligence, the Iraq War ended up creating a situation where the enemy was drawn into a single area and dealt with accordingly.
