I had a really great day today. I was finally able to purchase a laptop from BestBuy today. I got a Compaq (a thousand times better than Dell) and am very pleased with it. The best part is that it was only $480 total. The only down side is that I have to begin adjusting to Vista. As of right now, I'm neutral about it. I do miss XP a little already.
Another bright side of my day was that I got a new shipment of NetFlix movies in the mail. This is always a glorious day in my somewhat boring life. This shipment brings with it some great (hopefully) movies. The first is Venus, starring the great Peter O'Toole. I saw this film when I lived in Minneapolis and loved it right away. I figured it was time to see it again and enjoy it once more. The second movie is The Last Emperor. It's a film from the 80's and it stars, once again, the great Peter O'Toole. I've never seen it, but have heard wonderful things about it. The only down side is that it's 3 hrs and 43 minutes long. The third film is The Conversation starring Gene Hackman. It's from 1974 and I had never heard of the film, but it came up when I was browsing for movies one day on NetFlix so I thought I'd give it a try.
I found today that I have to wait until after Feb 15th to hear whether or not I'll be going to graduate school next fall. I'm pretty confident I'll get in somewhere, but the anticipation is going to be a little frustrating.
I'm heading back to Bismarck/Mandan tomorrow to do some debate judging. I'm looking forward to the paycheck that will result from that....it's more than you would think. The only down side is that I have to drive...anyone who's ever been in a vehicle with me can attest to the fact that this is not a positive thing for me to experience. However, it does give me a good chance to spend four hours listening to some Elton, some Mahler, and a little El Rushbo (just to spice things up.) Now I just have to decide if I want to leave early and skip some of my morning classes or just sit through them and hit the road. I'll have to see how I feel in the morning.

JT - Check with Pins...Scott says Mandan isn't participating in the speech tourney this weekend. Maybe you're judging anyway, but Scott isn't because Mandan isn't competing.
jake, as an intelligent person, you must stop listening to that incompetent moron! i won't mention names, but you know who.
