What wonderful news

Before I left Grand Forks to go back to Mandan last weekend, I received the greatest news of my life. One of my friends texted me and informed me that Elton John and Billy Joel will be playing at the Fargo Dome on May 2nd as part of their Face to Face Tour. It has been a great dream of mine to see Sir Elton in concert and now it is looking like that dream is going to come true. Tickets go on sale Jan. 31, so I am expecting to be seated at my laptop on that day to fulfill one of my dreams. There are something like 22,000 tickets available for the show, so my chances are good.

Enjoy the concert. I look back with fond memories of concerts that I attended...like Heart and Bachman Turner Overdrive. Now I don't feel like going any place where there are 22,000 people...unless it's a baseball game and the Yankees, Cubs or Red Sox are playing. The last concert I attended was about 10 years ago in Fargo. We saw the Everly Brothers. The average age of the crowd was about 75 years old....and the musicians were too. But they could still sing like birds. Enjoy Elton and Billy. They are two fantastic performers as well as musicians. In 30 years, you'll be glad you did.

I feel someone from the 80's should chime in. I remember seeing Huey Lewis at the ND State Fair. What a great concert. My dad took us to Air Supply when they came to Bismarck during that time frame as well. I do have a soft spot for Mr. Joel. I think I've got an MP3 for just about every song he recorded. That should be a good time. I'm singing "That's why they call it the blues..." as I'm typing this.
