You have to be kidding...

So I saw three news stories today that blew my mind. The first deals with the so-called "stimulus" package that passed the House yesterday. I was happy to see that not one Republican voted for the ridiculous plan. In the Wall Street Journal today, they have an article about all the so-called "stimulus" items in the bill. Here are some wonderful examples of the "stimulus" to the economy that the Democrats believe will help the economy:
---$600 million more for the federal government to buy new cars
---$1 billion for Amtrak
---$2 billion for child-care subsidies
---$50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts
---$400 million for global-warming research
---$650 million for digital TV conversion coupons
---$400 million for STD prevention

The second story I saw today dealt with how the Minnesota State Legislator wishes to pass a law that "would prohibit smoking in cars when children are present." Last time I checked, my car is my property. The government didn't buy my car, didn't buy my cigarettes, and doesn't own my kid. Why on earth do they think they have the right to regulate what happens in my vehicle? If this passes, it will just be a matter of time until smoking is banned within a smoker's home. I personally don't smoke, but I do believe people do have the right to smoke. I really hope this doesn't pass.

The third story was a video I saw the other day on the internet. President George H.W. Bush and President Bill Clinton appeared together at some forum the other day, and George H.W. Bush told this joke that was so amazingly politically incorrect, that I had to share it on my blog. Check it out here: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/28/quote-of-the-day-446/

Love the video...the rest of your post reminds me why I like my state government better than MN or the U.S.

How dare they regulate what is in your vehicle or home?!?!?!?! I mean, domestic violence and child abuse are only crimes outside a home... oh wait. Damn.
